LIONEL
HAAS

Lionel Haas’ musical journey began in Bonn, Germany, where he sat down at a piano for the first time at just 9 years old. From an early age, he was drawn to the captivating sounds of jazz, blues, and rock, and he honed his craft through workshops, gaining valuable stage experience in his teens and early twenties. Seeking to deepen his understanding, Lionel ventured to the United States, where he studied at Georgetown University and took part in summer clinics at Berklee College of Music. Immersed in the Washington jazz scene, he kept his passion alive and thriving. In 1999, Lionel made the move to Berlin, and it was there he truly made his mark. As a pianist and composer, he became a linchpin in the music community, leading and collaborating in a multitude of projects. Touring both in and outside Germany, Lionel’s repertoire expanded across jazz, blues, soul, and pop, showcasing his versatile talent.

From the vibrant heart of Houston, Texas, Daryl’s bass guitar has sung through the genres of R&B, funk, and jazz, sharing stages with many greats along the way. His journey in music began with the legendary Archie Bell and the Drells, leading to an enriching four-year adventure with the renowned Texas tenor, Arnett Cobb. The rhythm continued as he toured with iconic funky drummers Jab’o Starks & Clyde Stubblefield, adding his soulful bass lines to their legendary beats. His European tour with Big Jay McNeely led him to Berlin, and it was there, at the iconic Quasimodo club, that he performed on the historic day the Berlin Wall came down. Berlin now serves as his musical anchor, where he’s deeply embedded in both the global and local music scenes. Daryl has played and toured with luminaries such as Sonny Stitt, Kenny Burrell, and Jean-Paul Bourelly, weaving his rich bass tones into the fabric of their music.
